Port Dinner with George Sandeman

George Sandeman worked for the family company until recently and remembers visiting the cellars in St. Swithin’s Lane when his father ran the company in the early 1960s. George will tell us a few stories of what it was like to import Port in bulk and age and bottle it in St. Swithin’s Lane while all the while taking us through a series of wines from the Douro Valley to accompany a 3-course dinner. The meal will, of course, end with a couple of Ports, including the 2000 Vintage Port from Sandeman, which was judged the best Port in a recent tasting held by Decanter magazine. The dinner will be held in the barrel cellar, where the Sandeman Ports were aged and bottled from 1805 until 1965.
